Yosemite National Park…Fall 2014/Spring 2015

California’s National Treasure – Yosemite National Park is almost 1200 square miles in area. Embracing a spectacular tract of mountain and valley scenery in the Sierra Nevada, it was set aside as a National Park in 1890. The park harbors a grand collection of waterfalls, meadows, and forests that include groves of Giant Sequoias, the world’s largest living thing. Yosemite Valley, which is only 7 miles long, up to a mile high, and a mile wide is the destination for most visitors. From Ansel Gallery to Bridal Veil Falls, bicycle rentals to trail rides, there are no shortage of activities available to you!

Make a stop at the Wawona Hotel for a hosted lunch followed by free time to explore the area attractions. Later the coach will travel toward the Yosemite Falls with a fantastic photo opportunity stop at Tunnel View. Through the meadows and past the chapel crossing the Sentinel Bridge you’ll reach Yosemite Lodge where the group will be greeted for check-in with baggage handling included. The remainder of the day offers free time to explore and no host dinner at your leisure. Guests may walk to Yosemite Falls or use the free shuttle service to explore the park as they wish.

The Yosemite Lodge: Located near the Yosemite Falls amidst the sugar pine and redwood trees surrounding a central core that has a cafeteria, a food court and Mountain Room restaurant. Air conditioning and TV have not yet invaded these nicely appointed rooms each with two beds, bathroom, balcony or patio. There is a well-stocked gift shop and store, a large swimming pool and a post office on the grounds.

In the morning after a hosted breakfast enjoy the 10:00am Yosemite Valley Guided Tram Tour: “On this two-hour tour, Rangers introduce some of Yosemite’s most famous sightseeing points in Yosemite Valley and describe the history, geology, plant and animal life of the region. This year-round Yosemite Valley Floor tour provides a fuller knowledge and enjoyment of the park. Bring your camera along for postcard-perfect pictures.” Following the tour will be time spent on your own. There are many hikes and tours offered in Yosemite Park. The hotel front desk or rangers at the Visitors Center will be more than happy to provide you with some recommended activities. If you plan to participate in any activity make sure to be back at The Yosemite Lodge by 5:00pm as the group will enjoy a hosted dinner at the Awahnee Hotel from 5:30pm-7:00pm.

The last morning after using the breakfast voucher follow baggage handling procedures for an 11:00am check-out and feel free to leave carry-on luggage in storage at The Yosemite Lodge at the Falls as the group will have until 1:00pm to finish sight seeing within the park.

The trip will begin with a leisurely drive to Southern California with a no host lunch stop and free time in Santa Barbara. Afterward, check in for a three night stay at the beautiful Posada Royale Hotel, Simi Valley and enjoy a hosted welcome banquet dinner. Day two will bring a visit to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. Perched atop a hill with sweeping views, the Reagan Library is considered one of California’s most beautiful and unique destinations. The newly remodeled facility is designed for self-guided touring. Guests may walk aboard Air Force One, take an up-close look at a piece of the Berlin Wall, and view an extensive collection of exhibits including one which features the beautiful gowns worn by First Lady Nancy Reagan. The museum offers a wonderful gift shop/book store and several dining options. An Evening of Enchantment is planned as you’ll travel into Malibu for a hosted dinner, and a show that will forever change your definition of “Magic.” The following day will be spent at the Getty Center in Los Angeles which offers a collection of Western Art from the middle ages to present against a backdrop of dramatic architecture, tranquil gardens, and breathtaking views. Discover Mount Shasta (3 days/2 nights)

Two night stay at the Best Western Tree House Inn, Shasta…offering views of Mount Shasta! This is a full service hotel with a restaurant and lounge. Your stay includes a full hot breakfast each morning. On the first evening, enjoy a hosted welcome dinner downtown Mount Shasta. The next day a friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic step-on-guide will join the group as you get to know the Shasta Area. The day will include a visit to the McCloud Falls, a beautiful place to rest and enjoy a picnic lunch. The lower falls are visible from this picnic area. A paved path is available for those interested in viewing the upper falls. Afterward you’ll make a stop at the McCloud Mercantile for shopping or a sweet treat. The day will also include the Mt. Lassen Visitor’s Center, and McArthur Burney Falls State Park, with stops made along the way for spectacular photo opportunities. On the return trip the group will tour the Shasta Dam…this guided tour is an amazing experience! Tours include an elevator ride down inside the dam, where guides will discuss the history, purpose and construction of this huge barrier. After the short walk through the dam, the tour heads over to the power-plant for a chance to view the states largest hydroelectric generating station. (Includes 5 meals)


Independence Day Celebration, Cambria (3 days/2 nights)

Arrive in the quaint town of Cambria the day before the festivities begin and enjoy a hosted lunch at Linn’s Fruit Bin and free time to enjoy the downtown boutique shops, galleries and history museum. Then check in for a two night stay at the Cambria Pines Lodge, offering deluxe accommodations, and an excellent restaurant featuring local wines, a fireside lounge with nightly entertainment, and world class gardens. The evening will take you into Morro Bay for a Sunset Dinner Cruise. The next day, enjoy a down-home celebration at Shamel Park in Cambria… a good old-fashion time!
